Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to scrap ODIs from their upcoming Pakistan tour, replacing them with a five-match T20I series. This move aligns with both teams' preparations for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 in India and the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, set to be hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
T20 Format for Asia Cup & Bangladesh-Pakistan Series
The Asia Cup 2025, scheduled for September in India, will be played in the T20 format to help teams gear up for the World Cup. Initially, Bangladesh was set to tour Pakistan in May for three ODIs and three T20Is as part of the Future Tours Programme (FTP). However, both boards agreed to replace the ODIs with a five-match T20I series to strengthen their squads ahead of global events.
Pakistan to Play T20 Series in Bangladesh Before West Indies Tour
Additionally, Pakistan will tour Bangladesh in July for a three-match T20I series, an arrangement finalized during the Champions Trophy 2025 discussions between both cricket boards. The matches are set to take place in Dhaka on July 20, 22, and 24, before Pakistan's West Indies tour.
BCB confirmed the decision, stating, "We have decided to play T20Is instead of ODIs in the upcoming tour of Pakistan as part of our preparation for the next T20 World Cup and Asia Cup."
