Islamabad United continued their dominant run in the PSL 2025 with a commanding 7-wicket win over Multan Sultans, thanks to Andries Gous’s unbeaten 80 off just 45 balls.
Chasing a modest 169, Islamabad made light work of the target, getting over the line with 17 balls to spare. The Powerplay set the tone, with Islamabad racing to 69/1, largely due to quickfire contributions from Sahibzada Farhan (22 off 13) and Colin Munro (45 off 28). Gous and Munro stitched an 81-run partnership in just 48 deliveries to break Multan's spirits early.
Multan, after winning the toss, struggled despite a solid platform laid by Usman Khan, who struck a fluent 61 off 40 balls. Captain Mohammad Rizwan (36 off 37) couldn’t accelerate, and despite Yasir Khan's 29 off 17, Multan ended on a below-par 168/5. Their innings never truly took off, with Islamabad bowlers, especially Mohammad Nawaz (1/13), keeping things tight.
Bracewell tried to pull things back with his economical spell, but the damage had been done. Gous, composed and clinical, stayed till the end and finished the game in style with a six, ensuring Islamabad extended their unbeaten streak to five.
