The Bangladesh Tigers, a team comprising former Bangladesh cricketers like Mohammad Ashraful, Elias Sunny, Mohammed Nazimuddin, and Naeem Islam, have withdrawn from the Asian Legends League. The team had traveled to India on March 9 to participate in the T20 tournament for retired cricketers.
The Bangladesh Tigers were scheduled to play their first match against Indian Royals in Udaipur on March 10, followed by a clash with Afghanistan Pathans the next day. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) ordered the team to return home after learning that the tournament lacked official approval from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
"We were supposed to participate in the Asian Legends League, but since it's not officially sanctioned by the ICC, we have decided to withdraw and return home," said Mohammad Ashraful, who was set to captain the team.
Adding to the chaos, former South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs, who was hired as the Bangladesh Tigers' coach, expressed his frustration on Twitter, revealing that he hadn't even received travel plans for the event.
With the Bangladesh Tigers' withdrawal, the originally five-team tournament is now reduced to four teams. The competition is set to conclude with its final on March 18.
