Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed former Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait as their new national pace bowling coach, with a contract running until November 2027. The 42-year-old brings international coaching experience, having previously served as bowling coach for Pakistan, West Indies, and Afghanistan.
Tait, a member of Australia's 2007 World Cup-winning squad, has played 59 international matches and taken 95 wickets across all formats. Expressing his enthusiasm, Tait said he's excited to be part of a new chapter in Bangladesh cricket and is eager to work with the emerging fast-bowling talent. He emphasized the importance of turning raw potential into match-winning performances.
"It's a good time to be involved with the Bangladesh cricket team right now, a bit of a new era if you like," Tait remarked. "This is international cricket, not a development team, and everyone expects the talent to bring results, which is very much my focus."
He also shared his excitement about collaborating with head coach Phil Simmons, calling it an opportunity he couldn’t turn down.
Tait's appointment marks the end of Andre Adams' brief stint as Bangladesh’s pace bowling coach. Adams, who took over in March 2024, was part of the team’s underwhelming campaigns in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year.
