Veteran Gujarat Titans (GT) spinner Rashid Khan has etched his name in IPL history, becoming the third-fastest bowler to reach 150 wickets. The Afghanistan superstar achieved this milestone in GT’s IPL 2025 opener against Punjab Kings (PBKS), securing his place among the league’s elite.

Fastest to 150 IPL Wickets

Only Lasith Malinga (105 matches) and Yuzvendra Chahal (118 matches) have reached the milestone quicker than Rashid, who accomplished it in his 122nd match.

Rashid’s T20 Bowling Mastery

Renowned for his accuracy, Rashid maintains a stellar IPL economy rate of 6.8, the best among bowlers with over 65 wickets. His career average of under 18.8 underscores his consistency as a match-winner.

From SRH to GT – Rashid’s IPL Journey

Debuting in 2017 with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Rashid took 93 wickets in 76 matches at an economy of 6.33. After being released ahead of the 2022 auction, he joined Gujarat Titans, where he has since claimed 56 wickets in 46 games. His first IPL hat-trick came against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023.

A Global T20 Legend

Earlier in 2024, Rashid became the highest wicket-taker in T20 history, surpassing Dwayne Bravo with 635 wickets in 463 games. In IPL 2024, he struggled with only 10 wickets at 36.70 but remains a key player for GT.

As IPL 2025 unfolds, Rashid is on the verge of more records, needing two fours for 100 T20 boundaries in Asia and seven sixes to complete a century of maximums in the region.
