ICC Updates Elite Panel of Umpires for 2025-26

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced two new members to its Elite Panel of Umpires for the 2025-26 season—Allahuddien Paleker (South Africa) and Alex Wharf (England). Their selection follows ICC’s annual umpiring review, which evaluates officials based on performance and contributions to international cricket.

New Faces in the Elite Panel

Paleker and Wharf have officiated at the highest levels, earning their places among the world's best. The selection panel, including ICC General Manager Wasim Khan and former English Premier League referee Mike Riley, recognized their skill and consistency.

They replace Michael Gough and Joel Wilson, who have been part of the elite panel since 2019. Their departure paves the way for emerging officiating talent while acknowledging their contributions.

ICC Chair Jay Shah’s Endorsement

ICC Chair Jay Shah praised the new appointments, stating:

“To break into and maintain your position on the panel, umpires must uphold the highest standards across multiple areas over time.”

Shah acknowledged the pressure and scrutiny umpires face but expressed confidence in Paleker and Wharf’s abilities. He also commended Gough and Wilson for their years of service.
