Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) outclassed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) with a commanding 7-wicket victory in their latest IPL encounter. Chasing a target of 175, RCB completed the chase in just 16.2 overs, thanks to a superb batting display from Virat Kohli and Phil Salt.
KKR, batting first, managed 174/8 in their 20 overs. Sunil Narine (44 off 26) and Ajinkya Rahane (56 off 31) were the top scorers, but the middle order faltered against RCB’s disciplined bowling. Krunal Pandya was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs. Josh Hazlewood also impressed with 2 wickets.
In response, RCB started aggressively, with Phil Salt smashing 56 off 31 balls. Virat Kohli anchored the chase with an unbeaten 59 off 36, while Rajat Patidar played a blistering cameo of 34 from 16 balls. The chase was completed with ease, as RCB reached 177/3 with 22 balls to spare.
KKR’s bowlers struggled to contain RCB’s batters, with Vaibhav Arora conceding 42 runs in 3 overs. Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy picked up a wicket each, but it wasn’t enough to stop RCB’s onslaught.
With this emphatic win, RCB strengthens their position in the tournament, while KKR will need to reassess their bowling strategy for upcoming matches.
